This simple hack is one I use often!! Even in home builds when I need a clean cut. Most times when you cut a board it’s best practice to let it fall to the ground. But I’m some cases the spot you need to cut is more in the middle of the board. Instead of using your hand to hold up the board and risk losing a finger or pinching the saw blade and it bucking, try this simple life hack.

Grab a board that is deep enough you won’t saw through when making your cut. Make sure it is long enough to support the board on either side of your cut and the saw has room to pass through the clamps.

Next clamp the support board under where your cut will be and clamp them together. Double check your saw blade to ensure you are just cutting the depth of the desired board.

Next cut that sucker and check out how easy it is to cut long and odd size pieces of lumber. This little trick also ensures the end of your boards don’t splinter either. Clean cuts with no fuss!!
